The 2006 Komen North Texas Race for the Cure®

Thank you to our record number of Race participants! What a great day June 3rd was! The 2006 Komen North Texas Race for the Cure® was the most successful yet, with over 12,300 registered participants. We are still accounting for all the money raised, but we know it will also be a record amount. Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who raised money for our Friends for the Cure® program. If you still have money to turn in, it is not too late. You can mail your contributions to our office at 7200 Bishop Rd. #D-8, Plano, TX 75024. You can also continue to make donations online.

We were so excited to have over 700 breast cancer survivors registered this year! It was so inspiring to see all the pink shirts and hats with the pink ribbons on them! We hope you all enjoyed the breakfast and our survivor celebration. We know there was a little wait to get the survivor celebration started, but we wanted to be sure that all survivors had a chance to be included. And, the survivor photo we took in the morning is wonderful! If you did not pick one up after the Race, they are available in our office in the Shops at Legacy.

We thank EDS and The Shops at Legacy for being such great Local Presenting Sponsors, as well as such gracious hosts. Both EDS and The Shops looked so beautiful Race day, with all the pink! We thank our sponsors for their great support and for all the fun goodies and food they gave away Race day.

Thank you to all our volunteers. We could not have put on such a great Race and event without the help of so many great volunteers. You all make it happen and we so appreciate you.

Congratulations to all our winners! The list of overall and age group winners is posted on our website. If you have not picked up your award yet, they are available to be picked up in our office in the Shops at Legacy. Please call 972-378-4808 to arrange to pick up your award. Because of the record number of participants this year, we ran out of t-shirts. That is a nice problem for us to have! T-shirts have been ordered for those of you who did not receive one. They should arrive in the next 2-3 weeks. Please call our office or check the website in a few weeks to check to see if they have arrived.

It was a tremendous day and we thank you all for your participation. We also thank you for your patience with the delay of the start of the 5K. There was a broken water main on Tennyson and we were waiting for the O.K. from the Plano police department.

We are already starting the planning for the 2007 Komen North Texas Race for the Cure® and we hope you will mark your calendars for Saturday, June 2 and join us! Together we can win this Race.
