Asian Breast Health Outreach Project

972-498-8601

Asian Breast Health Outreach Project (ABHOP) at Methodist Richardson Medical Center empowers the Asian community with the knowledge and implementation of early breast cancer detection in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. The project foucses on ethnic educational delivery, mammography screening, diagnostic services, and follow-up referral services directly to the Asian populations. By providing educational seminars in Asian languages and mammogram screenings with Asian sensitivity, ABHOP breaks the barriers of language, fear, lack of information, and means which keep these women underserved. Semnars are conducted in native languages by physicians, nurses, and/or outreach staff and breast health materials are language specific. Mammogram screenings and referrals are provided at no cost through the Center for Women's Health at Methodist Richardson Medical Center for low-income medically underserved Asian women. By minimizing cultural, financial and language barriers for Asian women, ABHOP increases the number of women participating in the early detection of breast cancer so that fewer lives will be claimed by this disease.

Collin County Health Care Services (CCHCS) is committed to promoting the early detection of breast cancer among uninsured and underinsured women in our community.  The mission of the Breast Cancer Screening and Education Program is to help reduce breast cancer mortality among women age 40 and above in Collin County. The program will offer a free clinical breast exam, mammogram, and education to qualified clients who are Collin County residents.  Follow-up of diagnostic mammogram and ultra sound examinations are provided when needed.  Eligibility requirements include a completed application, proof of residence, and Social Security number.

Denton County Health Department

972-434-4715

The goal of the Denton County Mammogram Project is to increase access to breast cancer early detection screenings for Denton County women. Breast cancer screenings, such as mammograms, are essential and lead to early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The program aims to increase access to early detection for Denton County women by providing financial assistance for screening mammograms. In an effort to make the program easily accessible to eligible Denton County residents, outreach for the program is provided by a variety of means including community presentations, health fairs, and continual community collaboration. Qualifying Denton County women are 40 years of age or older, low-income, uninsured, and have not had a screening mammogram in the past 12 months.

Grayson County Health Department

903-465-2878 x237

The mission of the Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) is to serve the residents of Grayson County age 40 and older in the early detection of breast problems. This is accomplished by providing breast self-awareness education, teaching breast self-exam techniques, performing clinical breast examinations, and providing free screening mammograms as well as assisting with support services for any necessary follow-ups. Our target population includes Caucasian, African American and Latino women and men, age 40 years and older, who are low-income, uninsured and/or underinsured residents of Grayson County. This program is unique and the only one of its kind providing these essential services within our county. Our goal is “early detection” in the fight against breast cancer; promoting “breast self-awareness” to improve the overall breast health for women and men of Grayson County. Without the support of the North Texas Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, it would be impossible to provide these vital services.

Moncrief Cancer Institute

800-405-7739

The UT Southwestern/Moncrief Cancer Institute “Breast Screening and Navigation Services in Denton County” embraces the mission of providing basic breast health education, screening services and patient navigation to the underserved of Denton County. The Program will provide 475 screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women of the county. Furthermore, in recognition that many members of the underserved population experience difficulties accessing standard health care facilities, Moncrief will provide the procedure via the UT Southwestern mobile digital mammography unit, thus taking health care to the people who most need it.In addition to the screenings, the Program also will provide bilingual navigation and follow-up diagnostic services, including diagnostic mammograms, biopsies and assays for 71 Denton County women. All women participating in the Program will receive one-on-one breast health education at the time of their screening and the Program will provide at least two formal breast health educational forums for large groups during the 12-month funding year.  All Program personnel in direct contact with participants are bilingual (English/Spanish) and the services will be provided at venues most accessible and comfortable to the participants.  To be eligible, women must be at least 35 years old and asymptomatic.

Texas Health Presbyterian Allen

972-747-6238

The mission of the “Get on Board for Breast Health” program at Texas Health Presbyterian Allen is to provide comprehensive breast health education and free breast screenings for 20 women who are primarily Hispanic or African-American and who live in the more rural parts of northeastern Collin County. In partnership with the church-based Ministerial Alliance of Farmersville, this program will provide individual and small group educational sessions to encourage women to begin healthy habits for improved breast health.   The target group is women who have never received a mammogram (or have not had a mammogram in over 10 years).  Program goals include removing barriers that prevent such women from receiving mammograms such as: language, transportation, lack of awareness, lack of insurance, time-off from work – or even simply not knowing where to go for mammograms or the importance of yearly mammograms. The overall goal is to help transform the lives of these 20 women by having a long-term impact on their awareness and actions toward a lifestyle of breast cancer prevention.

The Bridge Breast Network

214-821-3820 x21

The Bridge Breast Network plays a critical role in the fight against breast cancer by providing access to breast health services and information in a timely manner to women (and men) who would otherwise have no recourse and would merely suffer in silence. Our case management team, extensive medical network, and community partners work together to provide a continuum of care throughout all stages of the breast cancer journey. The Bridge Breast Network provides low income, uninsured and underinsured North Texans with access to medical care for the prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and breast health disease. Access to healthcare is essential to our lives and community. Preventative and routine healthcare access allows women and families to stay healthy and take responsibility for their well-being. Maneuvering the healthcare maze is challenging and many times discouraging. The Bridge Breast Network provides vital services needed to insure individuals receive life-saving medical care in a timely manner and empowers them to make better healthcare choices in the future.
